Clement Carat
Filmmaker and visual artist, I graduated in 2016 with a master’s degree in design and art from the Sandberg Institut (Amsterdam, NL).

For several years, I have focused on creating participatory sculptures and performances that incorporate individuals excluded or underrepresented in the art world into his creative process. Selected by the Academy of France from 2017 to 2018, I became a resident of the Casa de Velazquez in Spain.

Following my residency, I embarked on a journey through the South Caucasus, tracing the footsteps of my ancestors. During this expedition, I encountered a community of drifters in Georgia, with whom I forged a bond of trust. Recognizing that sculpture alone could not adequately convey life stories, I transitioned from art to cinema, particularly documentary filmmaking, between 2019 and 2023.

Currently, I am developing two documentary projects: When The Smoke Clears and Blaine F*cking Petrovia, the latter focusing on Blaine Petrovia, the 2017 US national pole dance champion, set in New York where I previously resided. Additionally, I have served as a creative consultant for the United Nations Road Safety Fund.
